If you purchase your school supplies at Office Depot don't forget to let the cashier know St. Martin's School Number,  70016708, when shopping. The school will receive a 5% rebate on your purchases from Office Depot. 

Here are the required supplies for the 2008/2009 school year:

First Grade

Supplies you need when school starts:

  • Folder with pockets
  • Pencil box to sit on desk (approximately 8"x5"x3")
  • A few pencils
  • Erasers
  • Glue Stick

A backpack, while not required, can be very helpful especially when a child is going to Extended Care.

Please do not send any mechanical pencils or pencils with large toy-like ends. Crayons, markers and other necessities will be supplied.

Supplies to have at home for homework:

  • Pencils
  • Crayons

Please put names on backpacks, lunch boxes and sweatshirts.

Second Grade

Keep in mind that all supplies are kept in the desk, not on top!

  • Small pencil box (approximately 8"x5"x3")
  • 2 pocket folders (no prongs)
  • 1 glue stick
  • 1 12" ruler (standard & metric)

If desired, 2nd graders can also bring:

  • Crayons (no more than 48)

Please do NOT send the following to school:

  • 3-ringed binders
  • Pencil toppers
  • Pens
  • Mechanical pencils

Third Grade

Please bring the following items to class on the first day of school:

  • 4 book covers (preferably fabric stretch covers)
  • 3 plain folders with pockets and prongs for paper
  • Good scissors
  • 1 glue stick
  • 1 bottle of white glue
  • 5 erasers
  • 5 pencil top erasers
  • 5 #2 pencils
  • 3 ball point pens (black or blue only)
  • 1 set of markers
  • 1 box of crayons
  • 1 Pencil Box (approximately 8"x5"x3")
  • 12" ruler (standard and metric)
  • 2 packages wide ruled notebook paper
  • 2 black and white composition books
  • 2 packs of 3"x5" or 4"x6" lined index cards (100 ct)
  • 3 white binders (1 1/2" with plastic cover on front)

Please note that these are the supplies required on the first day of school. Additional supplies should be purchased to have at home for homework and to replenish supplies as needed throughout the year.

Fourth Grade

  • Assignment Book (at least 8x10 in size)
  • 3 Glue sticks - Bring 1 to school the first day
  • 1 bottle white glue

  • 4 Book covers – stretch, reusable fabric (any color)
  • 3 pocket folders with prongs for paper
  • 1 box of crayons
  • Compass
  • Protractor
  • 12" standard and metric ruler
  • 2 white binders (1 1/2" with plastic cover on front)
  • 2 composition books
  • Dividers – 8 pack pockets (poly)
  • 1 pack of 3" x 5" or 4" x 6" lined index cards (100 ct)
  • 4" x 6" colored index cards (100 ct)
  • 6 packages wide ruled notebook paper - Bring 1 to school the first day
  • Reinforcements x 1 packet
  • 25 Pencils #2 – Bring 5 to school the first day
  • 5 erasers
  • 20 pencil top erasers - Bring 5 to school the first day
  • 5 ball point pens (black or blue only) - Bring 2 to school the first day
  • 1 Pencil Box (approximately 8"x5"x3")
  • Colored pencils
  • 1 set of markers

Please have a paper, pens, pencils, a box of crayons and markers at home for homework and reports. Keep additional supplies at home to replenish the supplies at school as needed.

Fifth Grade

It is recommended to have supplies on hand at home for homework in addition to the supplies purchased for school.

  • Assignment Book (at least 8x10 in size)
  • 2 binders (1 1/2" with plastic cover on front)
  • 1 pocket folder with metal clasps for paper
  • Good scissors
  • 1 glue stick or multi-purpose glue
  • 24 #2 yellow pencils (bring 4 sharpened to school)
  • 3 large erasers (bring 1 to school)
  • 2 packages of pencil top erasers (bring 1 to school)
  • 1 pencil sharpener
  • 1 package of highlighters (3 or 4 ct. in different colors)
  • 6 ballpoint pens: 2 blue, 2 black and 2 red
  • 1 set of colored pencils
  • 1 set of markers
  • 1 pencil case or pouch (this must fit in the desk)
  • 8 packages wide ruled notebook paper (bring 1 package to school and keep extra at home until needed)
  • 1 box of reinforcements
  • 1 package of 3" x 5" lined index cards (100 ct)
  • 12" standard and metric ruler
  • 1 composition book
  • Compass

  • 1 package of 5 subject index dividers (heavy duty with reinforced edge)

Keep additional supplies at home to replenish the supplies at school as needed.

Middle School

It is recommended to have supplies on hand at home for homework in addition to the supplies purchased for school. Be sure to have a 3-hole punch, stapler, and dictionary/thesaurus (American Heritage Dictionary recommended) for at-home use.

  • Assignment Book (8 1/2" x 11")
  • 24 black ballpoint pens (med. pt.) ** Gel in is okay but NO glitter pens
  • 24 red ballpoint pens (med. pt.) **
  • 2 black Sharpie pens (med.pt.)

  • 12 mechanical pencils (.7mm - #2 lead) **
  • 4 correction pen tapes (3M brand preferred) **
  • 1 pack highlighters (3 or 4 ct. multi-color)
  • 1 pack colored pencils (24 ct.)
  • 2 composition books (narrow ruled, stitch bound)
  • Pencil/pen pouch (durable, 3 ring)
  • 3-ring loose-leaf zippered binder (2" with inside pockets)
  • 1 package 5-subject index dividers (heavy duty with reinforced edge)
  • 5 portfolio folders (with inside horizontal pockets)
  • 600 sheets notebook paper (loose-leaf, college ruled, 8 1/2" x 11") **
